Middle School Sports Are On

For the first time, Park City will have Middle school Soccer Starting August 24th! Park City Middle School Soccer is a 10-week, no-cut, after-school soccer program for 6th–8th grade athletes.

This is part of the new Park City Middle School Athletics pathway, created in partnership with the Park City municipality, Ecker Hill Middle School, and the Athletic Director. Registration is being handled through Basin Recreation, and the program will be operated by City League Inc., which will provide coaching, league administration, team formation, communication, and day-to-day program management.

This is your athlete’s chance to play for the Miners!

Every player will receive a Park City Miners reversible jersey and shorts, and the program will be built around the same City League model families know: strong coaching, lots of touches, lots of decisions, balanced teams, local competition, and a high-energy environment where kids develop and love playing. REGISTER HERE.

Who Can Play?

Park City Middle School Soccer is open to all 6th–8th grade athletes.

This is a no-cut program. Athletes of all experience levels are welcome, from players who are newer to soccer to athletes who already play at a higher level.

Although the registration link is coed, we plan to create separate boys and girls teams and leagues, provided we have enough athletes registered for each gender.

What the Season Will Look Like

The foundation of the program is a local middle school league played in Park City. Each week will include high-repetition practices, trained coaches, balanced teams, and local games. Players will work on soccer skill, athleticism, decision-making, confidence, teamwork, and learning how to compete the right way.

Most of all, even in middle school, sports should still be fun. Our goal is to create the most fun soccer experience in town: the kind of environment where kids are excited to show up, compete hard, play with their classmates, and leave wanting more. We believe great development and great joy can happen at the same time. Kids can play at a high level, improve quickly, and still love every minute of it.

Select Team Opportunities

In addition to the core no-cut league, City League expects to offer optional Park City Middle School Select Team opportunities when numbers and level of play allow.

Select teams would be formed from athletes participating in the regular middle school league and may play exhibition games, local scrimmages, a local tournament, or other outside competitive opportunities in the Wasatch Back.

The core program is for everyone. Select opportunities are an additional layer for athletes who are ready for more competition and want the chance to represent Park City against outside teams when those opportunities are available.

Transportation

Transportation should not be a barrier to participating in Park City Middle School Soccer.

The program is held right after school at Ecker Hill Middle School, so athletes can walk over after school and be picked up when the program ends at 5:30 PM.

If pickup or transportation is difficult for your family, please do not stress. About a week before the season begins, City League will send an email to all participating families to help coordinate carpools. In past City League seasons, families have been incredible about helping with rides, often for the entire season.

If you are concerned about transportation, we will help. Please email, call, or text us with any questions.

Financial Assistance and Equipment

Financial assistance is available through Basin Recreation.

Athletes will also need shin guards, soccer socks, and cleats. If purchasing any of that equipment would put strain on your family, please let us know and City League will provide what your athlete needs at no charge.

We want to eliminate barriers wherever we can. Our goal is for every Park City kid who wants to play to have access to a great local sports experience, regardless of cost, equipment, transportation, or family logistics. Email us with any questions and we can assist.
